Riptide Rhapsody
Our flagship work is the stop-motion animation, “Riptide Rhapsody”. This visually arresting work was created with practical sets and puppets all drawn and built by hand and animated to life with over ten thousand individually shot photographs. The piece was created over a span of seven years (2009-2016). The six-minute and fifty-one-second opus has been touring film festivals since February of 2016 where it has won awards and accolades and screened at some significant venues including the Wexner Center, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the New People Cinema in San Francisco. Due to the success of the film, Golden Brown was offered an exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati. The exhibition included a premiere of the film that was followed by a two-month exhibition. The exhibition included the film and three large shadow boxes, which we populated with puppets and set pieces from the actual production.
